State Approaches to Evaluating Interim Assessments
District leaders and educators often turn to interim assessments to provide diagnostic or growth information throughout the school year, and this past year saw even more need. There are dozens of providers and the claims made about their assessments are similar. Given the amount of money spent on these assessments, state leaders want to support their districts in making the best choice to fit their needs. In this session, three state assessment directors will discuss approaches they have used to provide information to their districts, from providing reviews of the technical quality of the assessment to producing an approved list for using state funding. A state TAC member will then reflect on the strengths and challenges to each approach.
